About
Lowell Is Queer is a community-driven resource that was made to highlight queer and queer-centered events within approximately 40 minutes of Lowell, centered in the Merrimack Valley region, but not limited to it. Our goal is to uplift gatherings accessible to our local community that may not otherwise receive broad promotion.
From time to time, we also share events beyond this radius when they offer something truly unique, special, or community-building, the kind of experience that might inspire a shared road trip. That said, we generally do not include events within the immediate orbit of larger cities that already have their own strong LGBTQIA+ communities and promotional hubs, in order to keep our focus local and intentional.
Lowell Is Queer is primarily maintained by Pride & Joy: Greater Lowell
Pride & Joy: Greater Lowell is a welcoming, queer-centered community for people of all ages and stages of life. Whether you're just beginning to explore your identity or have long been part of queer spaces, we gather to connect, share joy, and support one another through life’s many changes.
Our group is rooted in the values of chosen family, creativity, mutual support, and care. We honor the diverse paths that bring people to queer community and hold space for conversation, laughter, healing, and celebration.
While we recognize that queer joy itself can be a powerful act of resistance, our focus is on building authentic connection and fostering a sense of belonging.
We are not currently affiliated with any other organizations or the business that hosts our gatherings—our space is held by community, for community.
