Caregivers play a vital role in helping youth explore and understand their identities. This training provides parents, family members, and trusted adults with practical guidance on how to approach conversations about identity in a supportive and respectful way. You’ll learn how to create a safe and loving space for young people to express themselves, while gaining tools to navigate challenges. Special focus is given to the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth and how caregivers can affirm and support their unique journeys.
You’ll learn how to:
• Approach conversations about identity with care and openness
• Use affirming language and practices at home and in daily life
• Support emotional well-being and development
• Navigate common challenges faced by other caregivers and youth
• Connect with resources and community for ongoing support
The event is hybrid with an in-person program in the Meeting Room and a Zoom meeting that can be attended remotely. Registration required.
This workshop is presented by Greater Boston PFLAG in collaboration with local nonprofit Rainbow Dracuteers for their Rooted in Dracut initiative. The program would not be possible without the generous grant from the Greater Lowell Community Foundation.
